PILL PAPER COPY FOR JUNE 2009
PARISH COUNCIL NEWS
Potholes The state of many of our roads is appalling. However, North Somerset Council’s policy is only to repair potholes that are deeper than 40 mm and wider than 300mm on roads (20 mm and 600 mm on pavements). This policy is being strictly adhered to. The Parish Council remains deeply concerned over this, but it seems the only answer is to take a ruler before making a complaint!
Priory Road (and other) Closures This obviously caused a lot of disruption (especially for deliveries and visitors from outside). At least the shuttle bus seems to have been appreciated. The Parish Council has now obtained the programme for all the separate gas-related closures. This can be accessed in the Resource Centre.
Precinct News By the time you read this, the wall behind the Spout will have been prepared for the mural/mosaic which is in the process of being completed. We have also arranged for the dark and dismal canopy in the Precinct to be painted a much brighter colour. This may well also have been done by the time you read this.
Annual Parish Meeting The Annual Parish Meeting on 27th April was attended by 35 residents. All the reports presented, including the Chair’s report, can be viewed on the website www.easton-in-gordano.org.uk
Council update The Chair, Gerry Hunt, and the Vice-Chair, Arthur Taylor, have both been re-elected for the year 2009-10.
Meetings All Council and Committee meetings are open to the public, and there is a public participation opportunity to speak at the beginning of full Council meetings. Full Council meetings are held in the Community Centre, with Committee meetings being held in the Resource Centre. All meetings start at 7 p.m. Dates for June are:- 8th June, Playing Fields Committee and Environmental Improvement Committee. 15th June, Planning, Highways and Transport Committee. 22nd June, Full Council. Dates of all meetings until March 2010 can be viewed at the Resource Centre.
Police Matters As the bi-monthly meetings, arranged by the Parish Council with the police, have been so poorly attended, it has been decided to join forces with the new initiative Police and Communities Together (PACT). Please see the separate item about the next meeting of this.
