NOTES OF MEETING OF PARISH COUNCIL GROUP TO DISCUSS WAY FORWARD FOR PARISH PLAN. 15th January 2007. “Pendarvis” Church Path Rd.
Those present Cllrs. Gerry Hunt, Bob Langton, Ralph Whiting, Keith Burchell, Fred Gaskin;
Julie Smart (Parish Clerk)
Action agreed Meeting on 5th March at Community Centre to provide further information
and set up Community Forum. Each organisation/group within parish to be
sent letter, together with copy of plan, inviting a representative to the above
meeting. Notice of meeting to be placed in February Pill Paper, inviting
interested individuals to attend. Reminder notice in March Pill Paper. GH to
draft letter to groups and circulate to those present for any amendments.
Letter to be sent out week beginning 22nd January.
Targets identified as responsibility of Parish Council (in liaison with NSC)
Footpath and pavement related. 5, 6, 7, 12, 17. (Involvement of Footpaths and Rights of
Way sub-committee, with possible walk similar to lighting
walk.)
Highways related. 11, 13, 14, 15. (Involvement of Speedwatch volunteers).
Planning related. 18, 19.
Use of school facilities. 27. (Further discussion with Crockerne Primary re.
Brookside). Possible partners; sports groups.
Action required regarding other targets
Health. Targets 1-3. Contact Heywood Practice and District Nurse to ask about
best method of communication with community.
The Elderly. Targets 4, 8, 9. Contact Ian Hawkins. Possible partners - Retired Men’s Group, Lunch Club, Millers Close,Carers Grp,Neighbours
Railway. Target 10. Contact Gordano/Portishead Group asking them to send
details of meetings etc. to Parish Clerk.
A369 junctions. Target 11. Continue to lobby NSC re. St. George’s Hill junction.
Contact Abbots Leigh PC for comments/support re Ham
Green junction.
Further education. Target 24. Liaise with Resource Centre.
Website communication. Target 25. Ask Brian Murphy if willing to develop community
website in addition to PC website. Informally seek other
possible interested individuals.
Library. Target 26. Liaise with librarian about use & communication.
Pre-school/Holiday Care. Target 28. Fact finding after March meeting. Possible partners;
Crockerne Primary, Pill Ten Tots, Pill Toy Library,
Easton-in-Gordano Playgroup, Salvation Army.
Bank facilities. Target 33. Offer appropriate support to Post Office.
Business and Employment. Targets 34-37. JS to obtain full list of local businesses from NSC.
Then letter to each suggesting revival of Chamber of Trade. Continue with Port Liaison Group. Attempt to redevelop positive communication with Bristol Port Company once current Local Plan is finalised.
Resource Centre. Targets 40-42. Offer continuing support and encourage formal
communication with Parish Council.
Community Centre. Targets 38, 39.Offer continuing support. Press for early setting up of
Management Group.
Possible Task groups identified Environmental. Targets 20, 23. Possible partners; Pill in Bloom, W.H.I.G., St George’s Flower Bank, Gardening
Club, Allotment Association.
Youth. Targets 21, 22, 31, 32.
